Annual Retreat 2010 - Tim Han

E-mail Print PDF

When  I was first approached last year to be involved in the committee, I was not sure if I should take on the role. I remembered that I used to tell my friends that if God puts you through something, he definitely will bring you through it. I then decided to be involved.

Coming into this semester, I have had many other added commitments. I was starting to get a little skeptical about whether it was the right decision to take on the extra commitment.

Now, thinking back about how things have turned out, it can only be by God’s hand and work that everything has turned out the way it is. The weather that he has given us, the turnout for this year’s AR and the friendships that were being forged; it was definitely no luck or coincidence. One thing that I was particularly thankful for was the willingness of each and every single camper having the heart to want to serve and get to know the members from the other centers.

2009's 50th ocf convention was the first ever convy that i've attended, and a grand one it was. 50 years of the Lord's faithfulness to this ministry that has grown in His Word and in His Name.

it was indeed heartwarming, touching even, to witness God moving in the lives of students throughout the years. many alumni came back to testify how God has been good to them not only during their time in ocf, but the days that were to come after that. surely our God is a God whose faithfulness lasts for eternity. and so, it was a celebration. but it was also a clear reminder that our hope is in Him and not ourselves.

I was not aware of the Overseas Christian Fellowship (OCF) until the first day of orientation week at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) when I came across the OCF UNSW booth in my search for a Christian parachurch group to join. I am sure that my search for a parachurch group is a familiar one for Christian students starting their university education overseas eager to grow in a community of believers. Hence, it was with eagerness that I approached the booths of all the Christian groups I came across and left my contact number.

My OCF Journey

E-mail Print PDF

mayI can’t remember when exactly I first heard of OCF. What I do know is that I knew about it long before I came to Australia to study. Of course, that could be because of the fact that quite a few adults in my church are ex-OCFers. Anyway, my own acquaintance with OCF started when I was visiting my grand-uncle during Chinese New Year 2008. My parents had told him that I would be going to Macquarie to study, so he put me in touch with Aunty Mary and Uncle Vincent, who in turn, put me in touch with Jack. The rest, as they say, is history.
